Glass is collected from homes and recycling banks. It is sent to a reprocessing company where anything that is not glass is removed. Lids, caps and bottle tops can remain on glass containers as they are removed during the recycling process.

Where can you recycle glass?

In Devon most district councils collect glass from your recycling bin, apart from Exeter City Council. However, there are many recycling banks you can take your glass to if you live in Exeter. Click here to find out more about what you can recycle and where it is recycled in your area click here.

How to Recycle Glass at School

Most schools will only have a very small amount of glass, with maybe a bit from school kitchens and canteens or from the staffroom. Make sure your recycling provider collects your glass separately from other dry recycling, in line with Simpler Recycling rules.

By recycling more resources your school will be able to reduce the cost of your residual waste collection.

Many local authorities offer their own recycling services to schools.

Contact the recycling department at your local council to find out more.
